Civics is Awesome like Melonie

Civics is the study of different types of government, and the roles that citizens play in government.

You have the right to:
Freedom of religion
Freedom of speech
Freedom of assembly
Freedom of petition
Have a gun
Refuse to keep a soldier
Refuse unreasonable search and seizure
Remain silent
Avoid being tried twice for the same crime
Trial by jury
A lawyer and legal counsel
Not to have excessive bail
Not to be subject to cruel and unusual punishment
Live
Have liberty
Pursue happiness
Run for state and national government
Sovereign immunity
Run for office
Freedom from slavery
Equal protection of the law
Vote
Drink alcoholic drinks when 21 or older
Pay no tax for voting
Kick out Senators who give themselves a pay raise
Have the law enforced




You have a responsibility to:
Vote
Follow the law
Pay taxes
Partake jury duty
Have the law enforced
